What makes a great working cafe?
We have to begin by establishing the ground rules.
“Working Cafe” Definition:
A small restaurant or coffeehouse environment that is effective and welcoming for the wandering worker.
What goes into becoming a great “working cafe”?
Here are the elements that I have found to be essential:
- Free wireless internet
- Comfortable chairs & tables
- Accessible power outlets
- Delicious drinks & food
These items are definite bonuses:
- Great ambiance & energy
- Friendly & welcoming service (not always a given for the cafe worker)
- Convenient parking and/or public transit location
Then, there are the elements that are pure joy for me, personally:
- Great views (to inspire my mind)
- Ample vegetarian menu options (yes… I’m one too since @4yrs old.)
- Cozy features (fireplaces, water features, window seats, etc.)
- Oh… and a great chai latte (not too sweet, not to spicy) *grin*
I think that gives us a basic definition of the attributes of a great “working cafe.” Therefore, it must be time to explore some of the available examples.
